Dear The Notebook (and all its affiliated plot and relevant characters),
I may have watched you beginning to end more times than I can shamelessly count. You taught me more things than I can have imagined and you may have quite possibly ruined my adolescence, and especially, ruined my current and forthcoming personal life. I didn't cry though. I swear. (...)
To Noah: you're the real MVP dude. I can't even begin to describe the love you had for Allie. To fathom writing to the love of my life every day for an entire year is crazy. You honestly taught me that love is a bitch and it hurts, even feel like it's nearly useless but you captivated everyone with your loyalty. Your desire to chase the girl of your dreams caught everyone off guard. Props homie.
To Allie: You had such a tough decision to make and honestly I don't know what I would have done if I were in your position: security or passion. However I will say this, you made the right one. At the same time, you had us all worried you weren't gonna choose Noah... Like we were all prepared to hate you. Just kidding, but still.
To Ann Hamilton (Allie's mom): Really? Holding the damn letters... guilty of war crimes...
To the Nicholas Sparks: Perfect. Man, you crafted it wonderfully. From lower class Noah falling in love with higher class Allie, to Noah building the house while Allie spent her time with another man...to the scene on the lake and on the shore - could not be more romantic.
To the Ending: Heartbreaking - How could you? You're gonna let Allie lose her memory of Noah? Really? It took so long for them to find each other, and then slowly but surely she begins to forget who her husband is? To watch Noah slowly watch his memory fade in Allie's eyes was excruciating pain, and I mean that as painfully as possible. Not cool. :-(
This article was kind of a casual voice to the movie/book but in all seriousness, The Notebook really changed lives and made men cry in movie theaters across the country, not to mention the strong message in the plot: Fight for who love. Fight until you simply cannot anymore, and even then attempt it again. Love is not something for the feint of heart: it will make you do the craziest things; it can literally move mountains so be prepared to do so.
