High School Me,
Spend some more time with your family. Looking back, not making family a priority is my biggest regret. All of those people you thought were so important are no longer around. Those people that had more priority over your family backstabbed you, deceived you, and abandoned you for things that were more important than you. Your family is still here and are becoming your best friends. Don’t waste time, be with them now.
Go out with your friends. Boys are not everything. And I can tell you with absolute certainty, that none of those boys that meant the world to you then are your forever. Those stupid boys are fortunately, no longer around. Those girls you stand by during football games, basketball games, and wrestling meets are the ones that matter. While most of us have drifted apart, those are the people that you should be making memories with. And I’m happy to tell you, that goofy girl a year younger than you, who stood by you through break ups, life changes, and even being a bad friend at times, is still as loyal and as caring as she was day one and will be for so many years to come.
Stop working so much. Unless your going into a food or retail related career, which you’re not, you are not in dire need of an insane amount of work experience. The work family that you think you have is no where near as amazing as your real family. They don’t care about you like they think you do. All work has done is take you away from holidays with your family and outings with your friends. Straighten out your priorities now, stop working so much. And I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you are horrible at saving money, so working so much then did not make you rich.
You will not be a teacher. And it is okay. I know right now you think you have your whole life figured out, but you don’t. I don’t regret the experiences I had while pursuing education, but in the end it just wasn’t for you. You made so many great friends along the way and those relationships are still great to have. You have so many fun experiences ahead of you that will change your life, let them.
Let God guide you. I promise you, the second you let him guide you through your struggles you will be happier. Don’t just attend church, actively participate. Talk to Him. Let Him help you through life. The second you give Him the chance to guide you down your intended path, you will be happier, healthier, and ready to take on the world.
Love Always,
College Me
