An Open Letter To The Greek Community At Cyprus-Rhodes University

It’s time that we pay tribute to the show that made all of us want to join Greek life.

Growing up, we knew all about Cyprus-Rhodes University, the PR nightmare of Jen K’s article and the never-ending love triangle of Casey, Evan, and Cappie. We dreamt of living in the Zeta Beta Zeta house and attending the legendary Kappa Tau Mt. Vesuvius party. However, once we came to college, we realized that Greek life is nothing like "Greek," thank goodness.

To the Greek Community at Cyprus-Rhodes University,

Casey and Cappie, you two were my favorite, the modern day Romeo and Juliet. On one hand, you have Casey leading the army of cool, collected, and beautiful women. On the other, you have Cappie floating through college on a sea of beer and horrid pick-up lines. The two were a horrible freshman mistake, yet they taught us so much.

They taught us that sometimes things are better left in the past. Casey moved on from Cappie just like we should all move on from the past season top that we love so much.

Move on to what? What was that? Did I hear Evan Chambers? That’s right, you did. Evan and Cassie’s relationship taught us to shoot for the stars and that sometimes you’ll end up passed out on a couch with Frannie Morgan giving you a pep talk, but other times you find yourself in love with your best friend.

How could we forget Rusty and his sweet, naive soul? Rusty showed us the sensitive and understanding side of life. Rusty showed us that with a little love, geeky smiles, and engineering skills anything is possible--even almost convincing you parents that you joined a “service fraternity” and not a social fraternity.

We could also never forget Calvin. We never stopped wanting to be Calvin and Rusty’s best friends. They were the perfect pair, a modern day Serena and Blair. They were bonded souls from different houses, a Nicolas Sparks book in the works.

We never stopped hating Rebecca. She's the Senator's daughter? Could we get any more cliché? Rebecca was bad from the start and we all saw through her nice girl act. I mean, who makes someone move out of their own room? We could not be happier to see her get along with Casey in the end, but we did miss the witty banter between the two.

We certainly never stopped loving Dale.

Here's to the many hours that we spent imagining how things would be if we went to Cyprus-Rhodes University and to "Greek" for inspiring us to join our own home away from home. Although there are few similarities between their "Greek" and ours, I will always be forever grateful.

XO,

A true "Greek" Fan.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
