Leaving for college is hard. Leaving you is even harder. Even though I come back on breaks, our time together is never enough. I want you to know that I am sorry for not keeping in great contact with you. Don’t take it too personally, I don’t call my parents as often as I should either. The days here fly by and I often realize I haven’t texted you in nearly a week. I want you to know that even though I suck at keeping up with you, I am always here for you. You can call me anytime with any problem and I will do my best to help you out even among the piles of assignments waiting to be done. Though our FaceTime conversations are few and far between, they are the highlights of my week.
First and foremost, I want to say thank you. Thank you for always being there for me. Thank you for always being a shoulder I can cry on, both when I am home and via FaceTime. Thanks for sharing a love for long walks, thrift stores and Chick-fil-a, because most of the people here haven’t even had Chick-fil-a (Ugh! Northerners.). Thank you for guiding me though my problems, and for listening to me ramble on and on about boys I will never have a chance to date while we sprawl across my bed, laughing ridiculously. I miss our jam sessions in the car. Nobody jams quite like you. You are my partner in crime, my better half. I thank God that He has brought you into my life. Other people just don’t get me like you do.
When difficulties and life hit us hard, we know we have each other. You listen without judgment, regardless of how ridiculous my issue is. For example, “Why doesn’t (insert guy’s name here) freakin’ love me already?” That question is asked way too often, like multiple times a day whenever we are together. I want you to know I will do the same for you. Anytime girl. I’m here for you.
Even though I have made a plethora of friends at school, and don’t get me wrong they are all great, none of them could ever even come close to replacing you. I could go on and on forever about how much I appreciate you, your kind heart and loving spirit. I know I can be open and vulnerable with you. We share a mutual trust that is hard to have in any relationship. You have never let me down. I don’t want to think about what my life would be like without you. Just remember that, no matter how many miles we are apart, you are forever in my heart.
