To the coworkers who became friends,
As today was the last day I worked with you before returning to school, I just want to say something.
Thank you, truly thank you.
I came home for the summer and prepared for the worst. Working full time in a hot fast food joint isn't the most appealing way to spend the summer. I was prepared for the worst, and the worst was exactly what happened. This summer was the worst time I have ever had at work. From having the general manager walk out in the middle of the shift to having 5 no call no shows to just having so many people quit that we were horribly understaffed, the worst was all it was.
But we did it. We pushed through those horrible 10-hour shifts and succeeded time after time, and even though you all will still continue to go through all of this after I leave, I know you can do it. It was because of you that I didn't completely lose my mind this summer.
The idle chit chat about the year to come and the latest drama around the store kept me positive. Your dedication during the hard shift kept me hopeful that things would get better (side note: they never did) and just having someone to relate to and talk to things about was like therapy.
You were not all just my co-workers. Sure that's how things started, but as I left my last shift today and said goodbye to everyone, tears brimming in my eyes, I realized that you were all not just coworkers, but my friends. People who I knew that I would be able to call for help in the future if I needed it, people who would always have a job waiting for me if I needed it, and people who would dearly miss me now that I was gone for the school year.
I haven't been able to find this in kind of work environment in Springfield yet, but I hope that one day I will be able to find coworkers as good as the ones I found with this company.
Thank you for sticking by my side for this crazy summer, and becoming a part of the summer that I will never forget. Thank you for putting up with the crazy customers and always having my back whenever I needed it. You all taught me what it means to work hard this summer, and I will be totally grateful to you. Hit me up whenever I'll always have time for you.
All the love in the world,
Your coworker and now friend.
