An Open Letter To My Support System

To all the people in my life who make me who I am.

Dear lovelies,

Thank you.

Thanks for letting me be myself. Not only letting me, but encouraging me. You take my quirks in stride and smile at my lame dance moves and loud singing. Most importantly, you don't tell me to stop. In fact, you encourage me. When I don't have the strength or courage to be myself, you surround me with love and support. You tell me that I'm the sun and that I deserve the world, and you manage to pull me up by my suspenders again and again. I wouldn't be the smiling personality you know without you in my life.

Thank you for the tough love you give me. I may not be thankful in the moment, but sometimes I get too into my head that it's needed. Know that I appreciate your matter-of-fact words because they bring me out of my nonsensical, frazzled mind back to reality. You make it more magical without letting me get carried away.

Thanks for the time we spend together. Food runs, car rides, holidays, bad jokes, late nights, movie dates, laughter, smiles, random adventures, awkward pictures, they all, and more, add up to an absolutely wonderful life that words cannot completely describe. I wouldn't trade the experiences, good and bad, for the whole universe. Who I am is because of you.

Thank you again for being in my life and supporting me, whether I need it or not. I love you more than I can say, and I appreciate you just as much.

With all the love I possess,

Marisa

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
