Hey Mom,
It's me, Sarah. It's long overdue but I want to tell you how proud I am of you and all of your accomplishments. It has always been rewarding having my mom as my best friend. It is the perfect duo. You raised me not only as a terrific, but stern, mother, but you were never shy of a best friend. My drive to be successful in life is not only to honor the values that you taught me, but also to make you proud of who I have and will become.
I have learned so much from you. You showed me what hard work really looks like and that you can learn anything at any age. You never quit even when you felt like you could not do something, and I admire that most about you. Most importantly, you taught me how to make a mean breaded chicken.
If you've ever felt that you have been anything short of an amazing mother, you are surely wrong. I have never been so proud of anyone in my entire life. You always worked hard while I was growing up, juggling two jobs, three kids and a husband. It seemed that even with all of that hard work, I never went without dinner at 4 PM, Monday through Friday. Although we were never rich with money, we were always rich in love. That always had a higher value in our house. Your constant hard work to support your family never went unnoticed, even if it may have felt that it had. My greatest fear in life will always be disappointing you.
We are like two peas in a pod and there is no one I would rather see when I come home from school. I look forward to our mall trips and even our tedious trips to the grocery store. We always have a good time when we are together, and that is not something many mother and daughters can say. I am so grateful that we have the relationship that we do. Our relationship has always been open and I have never felt uncomfortable to tell you anything. It doesn't matter whether it was a friends issues or a boy issue, you never made me feel like I could not talk to you. Our similar inappropriate sense of humor will always be my favorite part of our friendship.
You are a beautiful and strong woman with an amazing fashion sense, must be where I got mine from, who should be proud of all your accomplishments. It is time to be proud of yourself instead of focusing on the things in life that you cannot change. Thank you for teaching me the value of family, the value of hard work and the value of being a great mother. I can only hope that my children could love me as much as I love you.
I am so proud of you,
Sarah
