Dear Mr. Governor,
You have just become the most bigoted, ignorant, and just plain inhumane governor I've ever seen or heard of. And I can say that, on November of 2014, I had the "pleasure" of meeting you, or so I thought. You appeared very professional and concerned about the people of North Carolina. On Wednesday, March 23, 2016, you passed a bill that blocks any measures to protect LGBT individuals. This is now a North Carolina law.
I get it, Republicans are more "conservative" and "religious" but goodness grief really? I grew up in a very rural area of the Appalachian mountains where the vast majority of the citizens are Republicans. I grew up watching a very close friend of mine get bullied and discriminated against his entire open life. Now, this is legally going to continue into his adulthood. And to the rest of the individuals who voted in favor of this lovely little bill, do you not care about the people for whom you are serving for? Are you not thankful that they may have been the ones who voted for you to be in the place of power which you hold? Do you not care about fellow Americans who call this beautiful state home? Are we really going back to how things were before desegregation? Because that's exactly what's going on.
If it's okay for someone to publicly humiliate or harm or discriminate against someone of the LGBTQ community just because of who they find attractive, then goodness grief I'm going to start going for the throats of those who don't like cats! Do you see the ignorance now? This law literally says, you may discriminate against anyone within the LGBT community openly.
This is 2016, not 1956, it's not okay that homophobic teenage boys are going to be allowed to bully the one homosexual teen in their high school. It's not okay that a bisexual woman is going to be denied her dream job just because of who she’s in a relationship this week. It’s not okay that a transsexual woman will be asked to leave her favorite restaurant just because she used to have a penis. This isn’t okay McCrory. For all you know, one of your children at home may fall into this community, but now they're afraid to ever become their true selves in public. Please repeal this ignore the bill that was turned into a law, but not on capitol hill. For the sake of humanity and our beautiful state, don't stay at this level Pat McCrory.
