An Open Letter To My Staff
Ashley Larivere

Dear Staff,

Hi, hello, how are you? We've been working together for about four months now, and we haven't killed each other yet, so I think we're doing well! But in all seriousness, I have a few things to get off my chest. I am so incredibly blessed to have you on staff. Each and every one of you has impacted my work. social, personal, and academic life, and for that, I thank you.

To Ja'Corie, you have been an astounding mentor and boss. You're always willing to talk, and you don't pretend to be fine if you aren't. You make my job easier by being understanding of personal situations and making sure I am upholding standards and expectations of being an RA.

To Jackie, you scared me at first, but I now know I can go to you when I'm super stressed about school or my grades, and you are often the first one to help, and I'm so happy we got put on staff together.

To Dylan, you've been a good friend since my first semester of being an RA, and I'm so thankful for you. From long conversations about music and politics to you just listening to me vent and ramble, even though you'd heard it all before and couldn't really do anything.

To Justin, you have easily helped shape me into a more positive person. Your spirit is infectious, and you always find a way to see the good in a situation. Without you, I feel like our staff would not be as optimistic. Thank you for being you.

To Eli, you are silent, but you are always willing to help your fellow RA. I love our random discussions over topics that seem to come out of nowhere. You help keep the staff level-headed, and you are never afraid to admit when we need to step up our game.

To Ryan, I don't know you very well yet, but you have had to learn and adjust so much since you came in so long after everyone else. You are learning so fast and I, for one, am so proud to call you a member of our staff.

To Amber, from your sass to your shark facts, you keep me on my toes. You have stepped up and took control on a staff full of returners and haven't even batted an eye (Okay, maybe once or twice..the schedule got us all in a tizzy). Keep up the good work!

To Gabby, you have been such a big help. Not only are you a fellow RA, you are also my editor for this publication, and you've helped me balance out both. Your prayers and encouragement haven't gone unnoticed, and you have no idea how thankful I am for that.

I could type endless pages of how lucky I am to be on this staff. You all have been a major blessing and have helped shaped my professional and personal life. You are all amazing and will go so far in life. Stay as you are, because each of you has the most wonderful spirit.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
