An Open Letter To My Snapchat Best Friends

Because sometimes seeing you once a day just isn't enough.

Dear Snapchat Best Friends,

I cannot even begin to express the comfort it brings me to know that you're only one selfie away. Every time your name flashes on my lock screen, I feel like our bond has grown a little stronger.

Our snapstreaks mean more to me than you could ever imagine. The dedication it takes to exchange a selfie each and every day reminds me of the true commitment of friendship. Three days ago, who would have thought that we would come so far?

Sometimes life gets in the way and it's difficult to keep in touch, which is why I feel so fortunate to have this bond with you. At the end of a long day, I know I can count on you. After all, you are my best friend, and there's nothing like hearing you sing with the bee filter, even though you sound bad.

I feel that we have gotten to know each other so well, from the bathroom selfies to the blurry pictures of your breakfast. I feel so fortunate to have this glimpse into your life, and that I can give you a glimpse of mine in return. We don't feel the need to filter our lives for each other to see, and that's what I love the most about our bond.

I can trust you like no other. I feel confident enough to send you unflattering pictures straight out of the shower and trust that you will not screenshot. But most of all, I feel #noshame double-snapping you. I know you won't judge me.

Your ability to climb to the top of my friend's list amazes me each and every day. It demonstrates such tenacity and confirms to me that you're in it for the long haul. You have an unmatched dedication that I cherish each and every day, and I want nothing more than to secure the same spot on your list.

It's upsetting when I notice that you have been temporarily replaced, and I begin to question whether our friendship is for real, or if it was simply a four-day fling. Sometimes we grow apart, and that's a sad but true part of life. But when you do climb back up and reclaim your spot, I know that you're not playing around.

Sometimes we're blessed enough to share best friends, and it reminds me of what a small world we live in... and how I managed to get so lucky to live in it with you.

Stay beautiful, and I'll see you later.

Love always,

Your Snapchat BFF

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
