An Open Letter To My Samsung Galaxy S4

You may have been outdated, but you worked for me.

Hello, Galaxy.

I've had you for almost two years now. Back in 2014, you were not considered the newest version or model. Nor were you considered the best; but I will always be grateful that I got you.

You were literally a step up from my S3, which, at the time, I considered to be a pretty amazing phone. Like the previous Galaxy, I bought multiple Otterbox cases for you, protecting you from everything. From falls to drops, from scratches by my car keys to water on the screen, I made sure you couldn't get hurt and that you were fully protected. Even now, knowing that I won't have you for much longer, I will still protect you and treat you well until our final day together.

Sure, the road has been quite bumpy. You've seen me when I've been frustrated. I've thrown you across the room a couple of times out of anger. I've accidentally dropped you down flights of stairs and watched in horror as I could do nothing but wait until you stopped. I've nearly put my finger through your screen and yelled profanities at you when you crash, glitch, and shut down for no apparent reason. For these incidents, I'm sorry.

Though, I can't say that these crashing or glitching incidents are your fault. You are flawed. Your hardware is outdated and your software is even more so. Your front and face cameras take pixelated photos and for some reason are built with an automatic adjusting feature, which makes photos in darker environments even worse. But it's not your fault. You were built that way. You can't help it, like I can't help being human.

In the end though, I will shed a tear once December 15 comes around. I'll be getting a newer version of you. An S7. I'll be a bit upset, even though I may not show it, I'll be hurting on the inside. I won't be using you anymore and you may just be sitting in the box you came in for the rest of time, but you will still be in my possession.

On a closing note, I do want to offer yet another appology, and this is probably the most important appology ever made.

I'm sorry you had to be subjected to the abundance of hateful information of the election and that of Donald Trump. I'm sorry that name had to show up on your screen.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
