Dear Earth,

I'm sorry that we have not been so kind to you lately. You give us life, shelter, food, and so much more than we take for granted. We have been killing our own kind and killing off species and making them go extinct. You were once such a beautiful place where everything living in peace until we came along. Our advanced industrialized ways will be our downfall.

Humans are the greediest beings ever to walk the Earth. We litter, we pollute, we steal, we kill, we destroy anything that gets in our path. We've destroyed thousands of acres of our rainforests and killed wildlife in the process. I'm sorry that we have been so selfish and thinking that everyone owes us something. Humans dump tons of plastic into the sea every day, but nobody realizes the true impact that causes. All together humans are responsible for over 100,000 deaths to marine life because of animals either suffocating on debris or eating it and mistaking it as food.

We have had wars that have lead to the death of millions upon millions of people. We have had terrorists bomb nations and kill innocent people. I wish we could live in a world where everyone just got along and nobody was against each other.

Because we have become so industrialized over the centuries that have been here, we have polluted the air so much more and it's becoming worse and worse. Nobody really thinks about it, but our o-zone layer is depleting and soon there will be nothing we can do to save it. Everyone is so taken by greed that they haven't a care in the world about what's going on in the real world and what's actually happening to our environment.

I'm sorry that haven't taken care of you lately. I'm sorry that we litter our beaches and destroy wildlife habitats all around the world. I'm sorry that we pollute the air that you give to us and think it will just be okay. I'm sorry that we are so selfish and are killing off some of the most beautiful creatures that you put on this world before we were even here. It's not fair and soon enough (I hope) we will learn that we need to take care of you.

Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
