Dear my mom's best friend,
There are so many ways I could thank you and so much more things I can thank you for, but here are the many reasons I am grateful that both my mom and I have you in our lives.
Thank you so much for the endless love you have showed me while I have grown up. You truly are like my second mom.
Thank you for the carpool rides I will never forget, and for the hugs when I needed them the most and the laughs I wouldn’t trade for anything in the world.
Thank you for coming on college tours with me, calming my mom's nerves down and letting her accept the idea of me leaving home as you both made made sure where I ended up was somewhere mom and you felt safe with me being at.
Thank you for the nickname that has stuck around from the first time we met, I still tell my best friends about it and they love it.
Most importantly though, thank you for being my mom's best friend.
You are someone she looks forward to mani-pedi dates with, traveling to new cities with, and someone she loves chatting on the phone with every night.
Even though you moved a couple of states down, she still feels as if she can confess even my deepest darkest secrets to you; which I don’t really mind her doing. The unhappiest day to date was when I helped you move out of your house…the very house where I got that one scar on my hip and that busted lip. I remember alphabetizing your books, stealing your hammy downs and eating a homemade lunch everyday after we packed the boxes up.
Thank you for calling me every Sunday night after church, telling me what my favorite non blood brothers are up to and what book you just finished reading.
You mean more to me than you will ever know, and it is safe to say I consider you more than just family. Overall, thank you for becoming such a positive woman figure to look up to…you’re my hero.
XO, Madj (the nickname I will forever cherish)
