An Open Letter To My Friends

You guys are cool and I want you to know why.

An Open Letter To My Friends
Megan Harris

I'm just going to jump right into this.

Thanks for everything you do.

Thanks for getting iHOP with me at 4:00 a.m. because I need a stack of pancakes for my health and well-being. Also, thanks for bringing me coffee because you know I can’t function without a small (large) dosage of caffeine in my body.

Thanks for dealing with me. Thank you for letting me speak my mind and for telling me when I shouldn’t speak my mind. You’ve probably saved me from getting punched in the face about 300 times. I owe you. Thank you for going out with me and not losing me because I always wander off like a lost puppy. Thank you for listening to me cry. Whether it was over something serious or when it was over something stupid like how the Mars Rover sings to itself in space on its birthday.

Thanks for not judging me when I look like a twice baked potato in a sweatsuit. You see past that and realize that I have the potential to look semi decent at necessary times and that's what matters.

Thanks for dealing with my wild a$$. Thank you for going on my adventures and for letting me join in on yours. I remember one time I decided it was a great idea to jump into a bunch of pine trees (I don’t know why) and instead of you guys judging, you joined me. True friendship. Or that one time when I hacked a neighbors speaker and played my Spotify playlist for them all day and you guys supported it. There’s a lot more, but those stories are too good for the internet. Just know I appreciate you all supporting me.

Thanks for protecting me. I know any of you would beat someone up if I asked you to. Thanks for making sure boys are nice to me and for standing up for me. We’ll always have each other’s backs.

Thanks for jamming out to my favorite songs with me. I apologize that you all are probably partially deaf from driving in the car with me and my music. Thank you for listening to Tyga and Christmas trap music on repeat and for letting me stand out your sun roofs when the beat drops.

Thanks for liking my posts/pictures. I can always count on you guys to leave a nice (or sassy) comment on stuff that I post and it’s honestly always the highlight of my day. Thanks for immediately liking my pictures after I send the “go like my insta pic” text. But the most amazing thing is when you agree to retake a photo with me when I hate how I look in it. I can’t expose my ugly side to the internet yet!

Thanks for going on random road trips with me. I like to drop everything and leave and you guys deal with my b**cha$$ and go along with it. Whether it’s a trip up north, or going out of state, you guys go along with me and create long lasting memories on these adventures.

But most of all, thank you for making me laugh. Jesus Christ, you guys are hilarious. If I had a dollar for every time you guys made me laugh, I’d probably be chilling with Oprah right now. I live for the moments where I can't breathe from laughing so hard.

There’s a lot more I can thank you guys for but I’m running out of creativity.

Just know that I love you all

xoxo

Meg

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
