An Open Letter To My Former Best Friend

Dear Stranger,

Hello… It’s me.

OK, all jokes aside, I miss you. I hope you’re doing well. We’ve parted ways, as many relationships do over a lifetime, and that’s OK. I’m not going to try chasing our friendship, as I've already tried for many months after we got not-so-close anymore. Because it’s OK, I’m fine, and so are you. We have grown up together, and that is the gift you have given me. You helped me become who I am today. So, thank you. Small things here and there will always remind me of you, and that’s the beauty of memories. Every once in a while I will Snapchat you those throwback memories, and we will have a small conversation about how we miss each other, and that will be it. I thought for sure we would continue growing up together, have a million more memories added to our thousands, make speeches at our weddings, be each other's kids’ third parent, and grow old together in a 55+ home. You’re a different person now, as so am I. And that's fine. It really is. I will wonder how you're doing from time to time, and check up on you on social media, and even text you on a random Wednesday afternoon when I remember something. If we run into each other one day, you know we will still be very happy to see each other, and catch up almost as good as the old times, because once you're best friends with someone, it never really diminishes, and that's the beauty of best friendship and I will cherish that forever with you.

I will always cherish our memories.

Sincerely,

Your Former Best Friend

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
