Dear College Boyfriend,
We know our story better than anyone, and I can't imagine this crazy ride with anyone but you. In the midst of the crazy college atmosphere, I just wanted to take some time to tell you that I appreciate you, and that all we've experienced hasn't gone unnoticed.
Right now, you are everything I want. Your humor, your smile, your laugh, and your lack of a filter all make this college experience so much more worth it.
Let me clarify, "right now" does not make you a feasible item which I will dispose of at my leisure. All it means is that at this complicated time in my life, I find you to be the perfect fit to my insane thinking, and that's a compliment.
I don't know who I am quite yet, and maybe it's insane to incorporate you into my life. What I do know is that I wouldn't want to figure out who I am without you.
This is a complicated time in the both of our lives. I promise to be there to the best of my ability, and I hope you'll do the best you can too.
I pray that you never forget to be yourself. Explore who you are, learn to love yourself, and dream bigger than all of the stars in space. Never let me stop you from joining that frat, from that haircut, or from spending a night out with your roommates. I'm here to add to your college experience, not hinder it. In turn, I pray you never stop me from exploring who I am. Let me have girls' nights, let me cut my hair too short (okay, maybe try to talk me out of that tattoo), but let me explore and make my own mistakes. I'm only human.
Thank you for allowing me to vent about that girl in my class who just gets on my last nerve, for listening to me complain about how my hair won't stay the way I want it to, and for listening to me dream bigger than myself. Thank you for always being a shoulder to cry on, for cheering me up when I didn't do as well as I wanted on that test I pulled an all-nighter for, for all of those annoying selfies I forced you to take, and for being the one I beg to have a movie night with me when I'm too lazy to do anything else.
The most important thing I want you to know is that in this point in my life, I don't have time for meaningless relationships. Four years goes by a hell of a lot quicker than I'd like to admit, and I vow not to waste a second of your (or my) time. I've chosen to commit with you because I see something in you. Whether it's building a strong relationship for us to learn about our needs in a relationship, building a lasting friendship, or even building a life commitment, I chose to be with you because I see you as more than just a fling.
In 10 years, whether we're together or living separate lives, I pray you always remember the impact you had in my life.
No matter what happens, always remember these things.
Always,
Your College Girlfriend
