To my lovely big,
I love you so incredibly much. From the moment I met you I knew that you would become one of the most important people in my life. Even if the time we've known each other has been brief, it has been one heck of a ride and I wouldn't want to embark on this big/little relationship with anyone else.
I realize now how much we have in common, from favorite movies to personalities. I won't even tell you how many times someone has told me, "You're just like your big." I take it as one of the greatest compliments I can get, considering you are one of the most amazing people I have ever met. From day one you have been open to me being myself, accepted all of my flaws and loved me unconditionally like I had always had a place in your life.
That's the thing about sororities and bigs they don't ever depict or show in the movies. They never show the amazing friendships and bonds that form between these two people who are brought together by complete and utter coincidence. They never show the incredible support a big gives their little and how remarkable the impact of one can have on the other.
During my Pledge period, I spent countless hours reading articles about bigs and littles. I thought my brain was going to explode. I was so worried about being perfect and not causing trouble that I didn't realize you didn't care if I was upset, you wanted to know. You didn't want someone who was happy and chipper all the time because that's not how strong relationships grow and develop. We both really wanted something that we could work on together and fortify.
And we do indeed have work to do. But we've proven that we love one another as if we've loved each other our whole lives. And that's another amazing thing. Once you have a big/little, you can't ever really imagine your life without them. You acknowledge the fact that once upon a time your life didn't have them in it but now it seems impossible to be asked to envision a future without them.
Now big, I can't imagine my life without you right now. I would probably be a stray kitten lost in the sea of college students and spending so much time in my dorm I would begin to memorize the bumps on the walls. But now you have allowed me to come out of my shell just in small increments and truly express myself. I now know that if I'm having an issue I have someone I can contact that will sit right beside me and help me deal with the problem at hand.
So right here and right now I want to say thank you. Thank you for all the amazing things you have done for me and will continue to do. Thank you for loving me even though I am way too obsessed with cats and taking silly pictures. Thank you for accepting me as I am and choosing me. Thank you for everything.
I love you always. To the moon and back.
With all the love,
Your little.
