An Open Letter To My Best Friend(s)

You are deserving of a "thank you."

Dear Best Friend,

If it weren’t for you being in my life, I wouldn’t be who I am today or where I am today. In fact, I would probably be a complete mess. You have been there for me through just about everything including drama with other friends, complicated relationships, my (sometimes) dramatic attitude, and my sassiness. Even during the times that I am at my worst, you are at your best for me to lean on you and I couldn’t be more grateful.

You know every single one of my weaknesses and you know every single one of the strengths. You see and know my flaws and yet you still show me the love of a sister. I am completely exposed to you but still, you make an effort to stick around.

You let me talk your ears off about things that push my buttons, about things that I am passionate about, and things that make me warm and fuzzy inside. When something interesting (or uninteresting) happens in my life, you’re the first person I call to tell every single detail to. If it were not for your open ears and open mind, I would probably be insane right about now.

You are real with me. The best thing someone could give me is their honesty. Sometimes you are brutally honest but I am extremely appreciative of your constructive criticism; especially when it’s about my choice of clothing for a night out or about a boy I have been hanging out with. I can always count on you for delivering effective and concise advice towards me during times that I am being delirious.

You see things in me that I don’t see in myself. Even though I have a good amount of confidence, I still have moments where my self-consciousness takes over and I lose faith in myself. You are constantly there reminding me that I am made in the Lords image and that I am a beautiful human being. If it weren’t for your kind encouraging words I wouldn’t know much self-worth.

I am proud to call you my best friend. I thank the Lord every morning and night for providing me with someone so special to be by my side. I am not capable of describing how thankful I am for you in words. You have been a radiant light in my life and I hope that every person in this world can experience a friendship like the one you and I have. You are a wonderful soul on this Earth and I want you to know that I am forever thankful for you.

I am so excited to see where our lives will lead us. I know that whatever happens, you and I will continue nurturing our special friendship and bond.

Sincerely,

Your Best Friend

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
