An Open Letter To My Best Friend's Boyfriend

Our relationship is so unique. I know so many people who don't really understand it. I think for a lot of people in our position, they find themselves in something much more superficial and surface-level, and I couldn't be more glad that isn't us. I am so incredibly thankful that I have you in my life. So, maybe I don't say this enough, but thank you.

Thank you for letting me have some much-needed bro time. You know I love hanging out with my girls, but I also love knowing that I always have someone I can count on to put me in a headlock when I show up or to laugh at my disgusting jokes when it's gotten a little too late in the evening. I know sometimes I freak you out when I spontaneously combust into a puddle of tears and emotions, but you can always turn that into a bundle of laughs, or you know by now to rush me to the nearest eating establishment. You're definitely a balancing force in my life, and you're the best for never thinking twice about grabbing a meal with all of your favorite ladies.

Thank you putting up with my sass. I mean, I totally get it. While I'm basically a packaged deal with your girlfriend at this point, you really don't have to put up with me, but you make the choice to, and for that, you will always hold a special place in my heart. I know that I've got a mouth that can pack a lot of punch, and my hips are in a constant swing, but you're never afraid to feed it straight back to me, and for that, I have immense respect for you. Your sass even rivals mine. Someone's gotta keep me in my place, and you do a stellar job.

Thank you for being like a brother to me. It means so much to me that I can always call you in a pinch, and I hope you know that you can do the same with me. We pick on each other incessantly, but we have become so close, and I love you with all of my heart. We are truly one big, happy family, and you're one of my favorite parts. Though, in reality, we haven't known each other all that long, you have become an immensely important part of my life, and I couldn't imagine my days without you.

Thank you for being one of my very best friends. You came out of absolutely nowhere, but now I know that until you came along (just by best friend's boyfriend, I thought), something was always missing. You make me laugh. We can look across a room from each other a read each other's minds. We've got each other's backs, and I know that someone will always back me up in my insanity. From adventures to late night study sessions, I've made many memories, and I love having you in them.

Most importantly, thank you for loving my best friend. You two are an adorably wonderful example of what a loving relationship looks like, and I admire you both for your dedication to each other through thick and thin. You respect her, listen to her, challenge her, cherish her, and make her laugh. You are patient, understanding, giving, and such a gentleman. I am proud that this woman who I call one of my very best friends, my sister, and my soulmate, has given you her heart and you are holding it safely for her. You allow her to enjoy her life while enriching it with your love and adoration while never holding her back. I love watching her grow as a person, and both of you as a couple, as you contribute to her life.

This may be cheesy, but I know you expect no less from me. So, to you from all the ladies in your life, here's one big thank you for all that you do for us. Our little family wouldn't be the same without you, and we are grateful.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
