As summer comes to an end, many young adults prepare to take their first leap into a life of their own. For some this may be moving away and pursuing a career, and for others it may be attending a College of their choice. With each day getting closer to their departure, parent's realize that their not so little baby is going to be on their own soon.
Freshman, please realize that college is going to be one of the greatest times in ones life. College is a time where not only one can find ones self, but can also find many others to take the journey with. College IS harder than High school, do not let anyone tell you different. You will have to study! It may take one or a few failed quizzes or tests to realize this, but it is true. You may not be "happy" to see your parents leave on move in day, but please realize just how hard this is for them. They are happy for you no matter how much they may or may not show it. So even though you may not want to hug them hard, and you will soon realize that even though you think it just helped them, that it actually helped you too.
Don't involve yourself in things that you are not comfortable with. While college is a place to try new things, and find yourself one needs to realize that finding ones self may have a deeper meaning than giving into peer pressure. Do have fun, but don't make it at the expense of your own education.Friends will come and go... it's just that simple. College is a place where you will have many different friends. Some may transfer, while others may graduate or dropout; it's a way of life.
This is not only a time to learn in an academic sense, it is a time to learn about ones self. College is such a great time in ones life to experience new things. I challenge you to embrace to adventures, accept your fears and get excited about what your future may hold. This is only just the beginning. Congratulations class of 2020, go out and conquer the world like I know you can.
