An open letter to students trying to do better this semester,
You and I are not so different, we work hard each semester but we can never accomplish the goals we set for ourselves at the start of the semester. Some say with a strong work ethic and dedication comes success, but I can personally tell you, that is not always the truth. You've pulled dozens of all-nighters and drank so many frappuccinos that you don't even remember what water tastes like. Not to mention the bags under your eyes have become a part of your natural look.
Yes, some of it is our own fault. Waiting until the night before to write a 10 page essay and study two hours before an exam is not the best decision. Occasionally you forget to complete some assignments on blackboard and yes it is true that you have failed a few pop quizzes.
The college life has proven to be a little more difficult to maintain. You constantly find yourself piled under some kind of research or preparing for an exam. No matter what you do, your work ethic just doesn't seem to reflect the grades received.
While mom and dad are encouraging you, there is no worse feeling than working your hardest just to find out you only end the semester without accomplishing every goal.
Someone once told me that C's get degrees. Well C's don't help reach 3.0. If you're like me then you understand how much your scholarships matters.
From one hard working student to another here is a solution to every problem. Its time to get rid of the laziness this semester. You will work harder than ever before. Why? You deserve it. You deserve nothing but success this coming semester.
If you still don't know what to do. I just want you to maintain a positive mindset. It's time for a change, and the change begins with positive thinking. You should start studying for exams earlier, make sure you participate in class and take good notes. Failure is not an option. So I say to you, work harder than ever before. You will reach your goals, nothing can hold you back because the best is yet to come!
Good luck.
