On some level, I feel like I don't even need to say any of this. We know each other very well and as a result, some things can be left unsaid. But on the other hand, I want to continue to let you know how much you're appreciated and how much our friendship means to me. I mean, not many people can say that they're still this close to someone they met in elementary school.
As kids we did so much together, we were always buddies on field trips, we ate lunch together, we had after school play dates. I wouldn't say we were inseparable, but we were pretty close for a couple of 6-year-olds. There are still some field trips that to this day, I don't think I would've had half as much fun on if you weren't there to laugh right along with me (especially when that kid fell off his horse at the farm.) I remember being there for you when you got a brother you didn't want and slowly learned how to love, I remember getting into Focus classes together and being so excited, and I remember how sad you were telling me you were moving away.
We definitely drifted for a long time and did our own things for a while. It stunk, but it gave us a chance to become our own people and make our own friends. It made reconnecting in our last two years of high school that much better. I can't even begin to tell you how cool it was that after six or so years, we just came back together like nothing had changed. Our families still knew each other, nothing was awkward and we kinda just seamlessly slid back into friendship.
Even now, we continue to go on fun trips and have weird adventures just like we did when we were kids and if you ask me, that's pretty cool. We have our own lives and our own interests, and even our own close friends but when we come together we always have a hell of a time. Even if it is just running errands and going to random places like Plato's Closet. We never seem to miss a beat, and I don't know how we manage to do that but I wouldn't trade it for anything.
I love that we can be there for each other no matter the time or distance. Especially now that we're in college and our face to face time is so limited. I love being able to come home to visit and catch up and but also support each other from afar. I guess it's hard to explain but our friendship is different than most other friendships I've had. Its honest, genuine, understanding and lacks any ounce of drama. It's a friendship that has stood the test of time and I'm hoping it continues to do so. Because I guess you're pretty cool or whatever!
The best part of all is that I don't have to even dedicate this article to you because you know exactly who you are. Keep kicking butt and being an awesome adult and just know that I'm so proud to be able to call you my friend.
