Dear Cat Lovers,
We are those people who see a cat and immediately become their best friend. Cat people see those whiskers, hear that meow and understand their language. To all my cat lovers (myself included) it is ok to be that crazy cat lover/man and it is OK to empathize with furry felines over dogs.
Cat lovers are often looked at as weird and anti-social, like their furry companions, but that is generally not the case. Speaking about myself, I love dogs. I think dogs are great animals, and I hope to be getting one soon, but I just relate with cats more. Cats have so much personality and they are independent creatures who often just want someone to be near them and show them attention in their own way. Cats are creatures who are sneaky, curious and adventurous. Cats are smart and have that chronic “do not dare mess me” face. They eat less than a dog and prance around like they own the world.
My fellow cat lovers, I will now tell you about my feline best friend. His name is Ziggy and he is one of a kind. He is fat and the biggest lap cat I have ever seen. He talks to you like you can understand each other, lays on your textbooks when you try to do homework, meows in your ear when he is hungry and has learned how to physically open my bedroom door so he can come crawl under the covers and sleep with me in the winter time. He is like no other. When I began college, he had to adjust just like I did and no one but my cat lovers can truly understand the lost friendship while I am away. My mom says he walks around the house and meows and refuses to play with anyone but me.
The vet told my mom that he was in culture shock not having me around anymore. Every time I come home he greets me, then ignores me, bites me, then lays in my lap. He is mad I left him so he has to pout for a while, but then comes around and I cannot go to the bathroom without having a four legged shadow behind me.
Us cat lovers are most judged for our love and identified as the “crazy cat lady,” but in all honesty, I do not care. I would rescue every cat (and dog) if I had the means to do so and I know that my feline friends will never sass me, judge me, or leave me.
Dog people and cat people all love their furry friends like family. We all mourn their loss, we cuddle with them, they cuddle with us when we are sick, we bury our heads in their fur when we are upset and carry them around like they are babies.
So, cat lovers, hug your furry friends and show them the attention they deserve. Also, feel free to contact me anytime to come play with them because I am two hours away from my furry best friend.
