The Golden State Warriors are in a lose-lose situation when it comes to satisfying people. They break the all-time record for most wins in the regular season and people say the competition wasn't as good as when the Chicago Bulls broke the record in the 1995-1996 season, they lose a game and all of a sudden there is something "wrong" with the Warriors. You either hate them or you love them.
The love/hate all starts with their best player, Steph Curry. The back to back Most Valuable Player had a season for the ages this year, shooting 90% from the foul line, 50% from the field and 45% on three pointers. Those are numbers you pull out of a video game. So why doesn't every NBA fan love Steph Curry?
Is it because he wasn't the top recruit coming out of college? He didn't go to Duke; like his younger brother Seth Curry or Kentucky or UNC, he went to Davidson.
Is it because he necessarily isn't the "biggest" player in the NBA? He isn't known for his strength like Lebron is. He relies more on his quickness than his strength.
Is it because it feels like all he shoots is three pointers? It feels like he shoots 3's 100 times and never misses. When he is in a groove from three-point land, he can't be defended.
Is it because his undeniably cute daughter takes over press conferences? During the playoffs, last season nobody wanted to ask Curry any questions without Riley sitting on her father's lap.
I'm sure it's a combination of everything about Curry. It's time for the world to stop hating on him. Everything about Curry, you should want in your players. He is a big time competitor who never stops fighting. He is the first UNANIMOUS MVP in NBA history. That's right, not Jordan, not Kobe, not Lebron, it was Curry who got all the voters to vote for him.
It feels like the majority of NBA fans who saw Hall of Famers like Jordan, Magic and Bird don't like the way Curry plays. "All he can do is shoot," is what I hear from a lot of haters.
Whether you like it or not, Steph Curry is arguably the greatest shooter in NBA history. Curry isn't just a shooter, though. This season, Curry has improved in all aspects of the game. Some say that he actually could have won most improved player and MVP.
It is time to stop hating on Steph Curry, if you don't think he is good enough, that only feeds into his greatness. He sometimes relies on all the haters criticism to be great. Even Steph realizes that there is no way to stop the haters from hating. After winning his second MVP, Curry was asked about his haters and his response was perfect, "I've gotten really good at ignoring people."
