Dear Roommate,
As an only child I knew that going into a dorm, and later on a house, would simply mean that I would be having to share everything. Something that I was not necessarily accustomed to, and no I was not spoiled at home-promise. In spite of my unwillingness to share my own silverware and cups you were ever so patient with me and taught me that it was "okay" to share these items and that you would take care of them just as much as I did. Thank you for teaching me that it is safe to share my cereal mug.
Similarly, you taught me what a rough path it is to have siblings. Oh boy did I have to learn in a jiffy! From the daily pranks of jumping out from the closet to chasing each other around the house with a stuffed animal, we did it all. We very well know that I do not thrive on confrontations nor do I
succeed at any argument, but you surely let me exercise this skill from
time to time! And in spite of any disagreements that led to going into ones room for some time and then peeking out the door to talk to the other, we are still close friends.
It was during stressful times in which lesson plans, tests, and car troubles were coming about that you sat there in that living room with me and helped me through it all. Not only did you help me cut all of the pieces for my manipulatives but you also held me through the times where I thought I was going to have the ultimate mental breakdown!
As we each go our separate ways in life, please know that you have created a paramount impact in my life that I will forever remember you by and that no matter how far in life we may go we will always keep in touch! You will be updated with my classroom news, "In the Life of Irene" stories, and the occasional puddle updates ;) !
Sincerely,
Irene
