To My Fellow Sister in Society,
Everywhere we go, we hear and see expectations. Expectations for our body image. Expectations for the way we dress. Expectations for the way we talk and act. Even expectations on the friendships we make. All these expectations, images and portrayals that society looks for in us are always in our heads. The perfect skinny, yet athletic, body. And yet, does society ever ask what we want? In fact, society makes us constantly feel as if we are not enough—it makes us feel as though we will never be enough.
So I challenge you to break free from the stereotype. Be yourself, and don't conform to whatever society is telling you to be. Embrace your curves; they make you who you are. Embrace your smile no matter how much you might hate it. And never, ever believe that you are not enough. You were put on this planet for a reason, and you are here to leave your mark and change it. You are, and always will be, enough. You have so many people around you who love and support you. Hold on to those people.
Love those around you with all that you have. Spread the love and joy that this world needs. Build each other up rather than put each other down. If someone's outfit looks cute today, don't just think it—say it! You know how good a compliment feels, so make someone else feel the same way. In this world, we need to join as sisters and bring each other up with all that we have. Boost someone else's self-confidence rather than bringing them down with hateful words. Show those around you how much you care; the world needs more of those people.
Most importantly, love yourself. You are perfect just the way you are. Do not try to be someone you're not. Be yourself because being yourself is the best version of you there could possibly be. Be gentle with yourself and take some "you" time. Love yourself as much as you can show your love for others. And don't ever forget how much you are loved.
Love,
Your Fellow Sister
