Dear 2016,
I waited 365 days to see you. Crazy how time flies. 2015 had its fair shares of ups and downs, and I expect nothing less from you. Every new year I make those same resolutions, but I never seem to stick them out. I am hoping though that you will be the year I finally push myself to not let things fall apart. It is funny how we make those so-called “resolutions” and 99 percent of them seem to never make it past week one. So, 2016, what is going to make you so special? Are you going to be the year of love and peace? Or are things going to take a downfall? On New Year's Eve we stand around watching the clock countdown, and in those last few moments we say goodbye to the year prior, and welcome in a brand-new 365 days.
2016, I want the best from you. I want the ugly, and I want the beautiful. I want all the laughs and smiles, but I am ready to face fear and the tears. We would be kidding ourselves to say that we will make the coming year pain free. Let us embrace it then. Bring it on 2016, show me everything you have to offer. I look forward to all the adventures. That is what life is, right? It’s supposed to be an adventure. So why must we tie ourselves down to these so-called “resolutions?” I have decided my resolution for 2016 is to not have resolutions. That I will learn on my own the rights and wrongs. To make mistakes and figure out new ways to solve problems. If I want to eat healthier, then I will eat healthier. If I want to read more, then that is what I am going to do. This is my new year, and I plan to make the most of it from here on out. I am choosing to stand out in 2016, and all the years to follow.
In 2016, I hope to be freed from worry, and take the next steps forward in my goals. I want to make new friends and see new places. The world is a beautiful place, and each coming year should be spent exploring it. When Dec. 31, 2015 comes, I plan to spend it surrounded by the ones I love. We will gather around and watch the last few moments of 2015 tick away. The day will have been spent celebrating the past year, and reminiscing on the memories of all we have accomplished. As the watch the clock strikes midnight, we will cheer as the new year arrives. There will be a short time of celebration, but eventually the smoke will clear and it will all settle in. 2016 is here, and for a moment it is going to be scary. No matter what you tell yourself, you don’t know what the year ahead has for you. Then you look, and see all your friends and loved ones. At that moment I will smile, and realize that it’s okay. No matter what happens in the year to come, you have the right people standing by you. So bring it on 2016, I’m coming for you.
Cheers to a new year,
Me
