What is racism? Prejudice against a race because you deem yours to be superior. Racism is said to have begun in what we deem to be 'the olden days.'

In all honesty, when it was said that history repeats it’s self it does constantly. The 21st century’s Blacks, Asians, Mexicans; all the browns, anyone who is biologically born any race other than White.

African Americans have always been said, “ To make a way when there was no way. To keep joy even amongst all the hatred." If we are an American that can tell the truth non-whites were and are still treated horribly.

White.Lives.Matter., All.Lives.Matter, Black.Lives.Matter. How is that these are correct and incorrect at the same time. Yes, these times and these situations are not black or white there is definitely a grey area, but how can we say this when it seems no one is caring.

There are riots, protest, fights, you name it it has happened; all in the name of which lives matter. It disgusts me as a human being that we cannot just get along. Although we have to understand lives cannot matter if we keep ending them.

How can lives matter when we are constantly putting each other down calling each other profanities that should not ever be spoken against another human being. As I have grown up as an African American girl in the 21st century, it is not as the movies and television shows predict it.

Black girls and boys are looked down upon because we are not the "correct color," we do not speak the "correct way"; we are looked down upon because in their eyes we are not the "correct anything."

What we do not always see is that we are also turning on each other. Parts of each race have chosen a side; the side they have chosen not being what the other side wanted them to choose.

This war on Racism is never ending Blacks and White have been fighting since the dawn of time. One has owned the other. One has revolved against the other. One has also shot and killed many of the other.

What I have seen and come to realize is that the "true Americans", who want this wall to be built and want immigrants out of the way are not truly understanding.

They do not understand that in some way based on facts and information from history we are all immigrants. We have stole, taken, and or bargained the land we call our home.

If we want this war of hatred to come to an end, to be finished we each have to take the first step. So, Who is up for the task? Will it be the whites who began the feud, or will it be the blacks who are just trying to survive.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
