Dear Mom and Dad,

Starting this letter is already pulling on my heartstrings. The amount of love I have for both of you is immeasurable. You both have shown me the importance of love, drive, passion, and hard work. You both left your lives behind. You left the comfort of being in a place you grew up in and loved for a future for the hopes of starting a family.

You came to the US twenty-three years ago. All you had were each other and the hopes and dreams of creating a better life than what you had back home.

Now that I am older and can comprehend the magnitude of the sacrifice you gave up for my sister and me, it’s one of the most selfless acts I have ever come across in my entire life, and probably for the rest of my life.

You built you’re lives from nothing. With the few hundred dollars you had you both embarked in a new journey here to the United States. You both worked everyday and tackled mountains and barriers that were trying to stop you from leading to the other side.

You soon after started our family with my sister and a year and a half later welcomed me into the most perfect blessing God could have ever granted me, a spot in our family.

As I am writing this letter I can’t help but tear but because the amount of love you both have poured into our family is something no one could ever measure You’ve always been there for us, driving us to our multiple practices, going to every soccer/field hockey/lacrosse game we had. You were on the sidelines cheering us on and always encouraging us to be our best, to be the best.

You made me laugh in times where I couldn’t see the point in happiness. You’ve held me in moments of hardship. And you’ve guided me in times when I felt like I was lost in the world. You stuck by me in the hardest years of my life. You never stopped loving me. You never stopped showing me that love day in and day out. My only dream is to one day repay you for everything you gave up for our family.

Mom and dad, I love you more than all the stars in the sky times ten. Thank you for always looking forward. Thank you for giving up everything you had to amerce yourselves in a new country you were a stranger to. The sacrifice you’ve made has never gone unnoticed. You never looked back, because you were both determined to create a new begging and life for our family. Even when people may have not believed in you, you pushed through adversity and showed how strong and determined you both were.

You showed me that no one can get in the way of your success unless you let them. You’ve been the most amazing role models for my sister and me. You’ve taught me that this world can be rough, but you’ve built a life where a lot of those rough patches we wont have to encounter because you have worked hard to prevent that and give us a better life. You’ve given the gift of luxury, in which me and my sister can now do whatever we can dream of. The freedom to study whatever we wanted and pursue a life where we can love what we do. Thank you for giving us the gift of options.

You’ve showed me that nothing is impossible, thank you for pushing me in the direction of success.

Thank you for making me humble, and teaching me the importance of helping others and putting others before myself. Thank you for accepting my mistakes, and trusting I would always learn from them.

Thank you for being the most caring, loving selfless individuals I have ever met. You have both given me the drive to succeed in life, and to make you both proud and be a product of your handwork. Thank you for all the qualities you’ve instilled in me, if it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t be the person I am today. Thank you for making me the world’s happiest daughter, because I get to call you both mom and dad. Thank you for loving me endlessly and always accepting me for me. I can only hope that I can be even half the parent you both are to me one day. You make my heart full every day. I miss you so much being away from home, but I know you’re only a little ways away. Thank you for being you. Mom and dad, I’ve never met people more beautiful in heart and soul in my life. Love you more and more each day, you’re my light in this world, and you’re the love in my heart. Te amo mucho, por siempre y para seimpre.
