“My college roommate threatened to kill me.” - Jim Fyfe, Rockland Country Day School, 2013.
This was one of the many terrifying college roommate horror stories I heard when I was in high school. I had no clue what sort of person my roommate would be or if we would get along. Luckily, we became fast friends. My sophomore year, we were lucky enough to live with another one of our best friends. These ladies are my rock. They have done so much for me over the past two years. Here are some of the things I never thanked these ladies for, but totally need to.
1. For cleaning out the trash can when you knew I couldn’t deal with it.
After "one of those nights" when I just couldn’t deal with what could possibly be in the trash can. Thanks for making it disappear.
2. For doing the dishes because you know I hate them.
Sometimes, the place where we would keep our dirty dishes would mysteriously be clear when I came home from class. Thanks for making them go away.
3. For making me coffee in the morning when I was up all night studying.
This was just one of those sweet sweet moments where I discovered you were a saint. Thank you for waking up just 10 minutes earlier than you had to just do to something nice.
4. For buying my favorite Gatorade when you knew I was sick.
Being sick in college sucks. I might not have Mom, but you were the next best thing.
5. For walking with me to the kitchen to make easy mac.
It seems like we would meet the most interesting people while doing this. I’m glad I wasn’t alone.
6. For being the best GPS/DJ on car rides
I would have gone nuts in the car without that.
7. For dancing with me in between studying for finals.
Going through the same index cards over and over gets ridiculously boring. Having roomies to dance with every 40 minutes make it a little bit better.
8. For being there for all my major life moments.
From boyfriends, exes, sorority bids, changes in majors, and even deaths, it seems like you were there to experience everything that could possibly change in my life with me. Thanks for guiding me through it and keeping me afloat.
9. For welcoming me into your family.
From the second I met your parents, I knew that they would basically become mine. I am so blessed to have such a huge support system and so many amazing women I can run to if I need anything.
10. Thank you for loving me unconditionally.
From the long nights, early mornings, petty fights, passive-aggressive sticky notes, tears, laughs, and everything else in between, thank you for loving me no matter what.
