Fellow tall women,
Although they say the average height increases almost every year, we still tower above the majority. People look up at us, not because we are necessarily inspirational, but because they would be staring at our shoulders or chest if they looked straight ahead.
We see tall models in ads wearing dresses that fit them perfectly, and then we go to the store and have a hard time finding a dress that doesn’t look like a shirt on us.
We all know the feeling when the shoes we like in the store aren’t made in our massive foot size, because what lady is a size 11+?
Finding jeans that are long enough is an eternal struggle.
Knee high boots are not a thing in our lives.
We either are still afraid of heels or have learned to rock them no matter what height we are with them on.
We have all been approached multiple times by that random stranger in the mall who blurts out “Do you play basketball? Because you’re tall.”
Some of us do play basketball and kill it because we are gracefully skilled giants.
We have all been told we should model solely because of our height. Admit it, we secretly like being told this.
How many times have we been asked, "How's the weather up there?" by a smirking person who thinks their joke is hilarious and original.
We have hit our heads on more things than we would like to remember.
We all have those memories of being a giant next to our male classmates back in middle and high school. Possibly even today.
Our head has been cut off in at least one photo. Or when we try to look in the mirror.
We have to squat sometimes to be a part of a group photo.
People have yelled as us for being in their line of vision.
Our moms have yelled at us not to slouch throughout our entire childhood, and adulthood.
We can always be spotted in a crowd, and we can easily see over crowds without having to stand on our tip toes.
Our beds are often too short and our ceilings are not tall enough.
However, we are all around Taylor Swift’s height which is pretty amazing.
Even though we may have a lot of issues with being tall, we are always there for our shorter friends who may be in desperate need of something off a high shelf. Or maybe they need to go on your shoulders so they can see what is going on beyond the crowd. Either way, if you haven't yet, learn to embrace your height because being tall has a lot of positives too!
