Dear Friend Who Puts His Girlfriend Before School,

Why do you care more about someone who doesn’t treat you well than your grades? She doesn’t like the bond we share, which is nothing more than a platonic relationship. She gets upset when she walks by the classroom where your assigned seat happens to be next to mine. You skip staying after-school with me, only for me to help you, just because she doesn’t like me talking to you.

The Charismatic One,

I love having you. I love the way you inspire others in a way I yearn to. You’re such an amazing person and I wish you could see how much people look up to you. So many people love and admire you. Just being able to talk to someone that amazing is something I truly am grateful for.

The Insecure One,

You, you are such a beautiful person. Your insecurities run so much deeper than just your physical appearance, but to your personality and your schooling. You beat yourself down and think you’re "stupid." You’re taking so many advanced classes and I think that’s amazing. Your personality is amazing, and any boy would be more than lucky to have you.

The Easily Stressed One,

Everything bothers you in so many ways. I know this isn’t much of a help, but you need to let go off some things. Don’t be afraid to have a little fun, even if it means a little trouble. Don’t stress on the little things. You are such an amazing person and have an amazing life. Live it to the fullest.

The One With The Open Soul,

You always know the right thing to say. You’re so coherent on the world around you and pick up the most amazing vibes on things. You understand the world and nature on such a deep level. I envy to have a soul like yours, and wish I had the connection you do with the world.

To The Heartfelt Friend,

You’ve always picked up when something was wrong with me. Showing genuine compassion and love to me is my favorite thing about you. I love the memories we’ve shared, and how the way your heart was so open to me when we first started talking. Your heart is so beautiful and I love it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
