A College Students Guide To Cheap Drinking In Boone

Do you ever just need an excuse to go out to a bar? Do you have trouble convincing your friends that Tuesday night is a great night to get drunk? Well I am here to help. Below you will find specials for everyday of the week in Boone. These deals are enough to convince anyone that tonight is the right night to drink.

Monday: Monday is the worst day of the week. The weekend's over, and class is starting; it’s a day that ends in Y. There are many reasons to drink on a Monday. Here are the Monday Deals:

To the casual drinker, tonight is your night to shine. Café Portofino has you covered with a dollar off whiskey drinks, three dollar Carolina drafts, and three dollar 21st Amendment cans. If that’s not working for you head over to Town Tavern where you can get $2 Bud and Bud Light pints, $3 24 oz cans, and $7 pitchers. If you’re really trying to get weird, they also have $4 fireball shots.

Not wanting to get to weird? That’s cool too; Rivers Street Ale House has their taco night on Mondays so you can $2 coronas and $4 margaritas. If that doesn’t work head to the Local for $3 drafts and $4 margaritas.

Want to get a nice steak on your Monday? Sagebrush has $1.50 PBR and Miller High Life, $2.50 Bud and Bud Light draft, and my personal favorite 99 cent margaritas.

Trying to play some drinking games? Galileo’s has team trivia night on Mondays. Get your trivia on and have a few and a chance at free beer for life? Don’t believe me… go and find out.

Still haven’t found something you like? TApp Room has you covered with $3 NC bottles and cans, $4 Red Snappers, and $2 Bud Light bottles.

Casual Mondays am I right?

Tuesday: This is actually usually my favorite night to go out. Start your pregame early with a signature Sidewalk Slammer (caution: Has been known to cause bad decisions) which consists of mixing a 40 oz and a 4Loco and then get ready to head out.

My first stop on this fun filled night, go to Klondike Café, and play some trivia and enjoy drink specials. Stay all night if you’d like, if not, then your night gets tricky. You can head down to Portofinos’s for $2 draft day also featuring $4 flushes, a shorter walk over to TApp room for $2 Bud bottles, and $4 Kamikazes.

Not for you? Head over to Town Tavern where they have dollar PBR’s, $2 rolling rocks, $3 whiskey gingers, and $4 vodka Red Bulls.

If none of these things are to your liking then try Capones all day for dollar beers.

No matter what you do, end your night over at Boone Saloon. Five buck PBR pitchers and a great crowd, it is a very popular place to end your Tuesday Night.

Wednesday: This is my night to be a TApp room. Not only do they offer you $2 Coronas and $4 margaritas, they make the best tacos in town.

Not feeling the taco night vibe? Town Tavern has $2 Bud Light bottles, and $3 craft bottles. River Street Ale House has $2 domestics and $3 house liquor drinks.

Trivia again? Yep head down to Porto’s and play and get half priced wine, two dollar 24 oz PBR, and three dollar Well Drinks. Trivia is taking place at The Local to which also sports half priced wine for your Wednesday endeavors.

Thursday: Oh thirsty Thursday, the real reason why the college of business doesn’t have Friday classes. This is a day that provides the young college alcoholics with many opportunities to “get turnt”.

You have your pick of whatever your heart desires on this night. So let us start with a night in the life of Sean. I head to The Local to enjoy their two dollar every draft special and fantastic 1980s music. Then I head to Klondike for their dollar seventy-five Busch, $3.50 royal flushes, and $3 liquor drinks. They have DJ Keaton playing music and keeping the dance floor fun.

Not your style? Porto sports live music and two dollar domestic bottles, $2.50 Corona & Corona Lite, $4.50 house wine by the glass, and $5 margaritas. Geno’s also sports live music this night and some beer specials.

No loud music? No problem. Town Tavern has $1 PBR’s, $2 Coors Light, and $3 rum and coke. TApp Room can provide you with two dollar Miller Light Bottles, three dollar Hoegaarden bottles, $3 house vodka drinks, and $4 Washington Apples Shots. Rivers Street Ale House has you for $2 Budweiser 24 oz cans, and $5 Budweiser pitchers.

Friday: The official last day of the workweek. Time to party.

Klondike can help you with $1.75 Busch, $3 liquor drinks, and $3.50 royal flush shots. DJ Keaton will be there providing you with excellent tunes and a fun atmosphere.

Trying to see a different DJ? Portofino’s has a dance party that also sports two dollar Coors and Coors Light, four dollar Pink Panties, five dollar LIT’s, and $6 Jager bombs.

Just want to drink? Town Tavern has one dollar PBR, $2 Bud and Bud Light drafts, $3 Bell’s Two Hearted, and $4 Fireball shots. TApp Room has $2 Coors, $3 house whiskey and bourbon drinks and $4 royal flush shots. Rivers Street Ale House has two dollar Coors Light bottles, $3 house liquor drinks, and $4 Fireball shots.

You into Karaoke? So is Galileo’s with the best Karaoke set up in town. Sporting a nice selection of three dollar fireball shots, two dollar melon sour shots, five dollar double Malibu pineapple and fuzzy navels, as well as four dollar Jager bombs; this bar can be the place to be on Friday Nights

Saturday: No shortage of fun on this night either. Galileo's has Salsa Night with lessons at 10 p.m. and dancing at 11 p.m. Combined with $3 Sangria, Cuervo Shots, Tecate Pounders, and $15 Sangria Fishbowls, this can be a fun venture for the evening.

If not there’s so much more.

Cafe Portofino’s has two dollar Miller Lite bottles, three dollar Fat Tire Pints, five dollar Jack & Coke and Scooby Snack Shots. Town Tavern has $2 Miller Light bottles, $3 Budweiser 24 oz drafts, $4 LIT’s and $5 Jager bombs. River Street Ale House has two dollar Bud Light bottles, $9 Bud Light buckets, and $3 house vodka drinks.

TApp Room has $3 Sweetwater 420/Blue bottles, $3 house rum drinks, and $4 Yosef shots. Klondike has $1.75 Busch, $3 liquor drinks, and $3 royal flush shots.

Pretty much go anywhere for a solid crowd and nice drink specials. Saturday night is a college kid’s gift from the gods

Sunday: The day of rest. By that I mean: remembering all the homework I have to do while hungover and spend most the day in the library hating that I once again put things off until the last minute. So is college.

If however you have Sunday off, The Local and Mint do bottomless mimosas to cure that ever so fun hangover you’re suffering through.

Porto, River Street Ale House, and Town Tavern will cure you with Bloody Mary specials.

Beer specials for football? See TApp Room and or any of the above bars for those games, though the nicest place I’ve found is The Rock.

Notice I didn’t put a price on Sunday Drinks. Curing a hangover is priceless as is watching American football with beer.

If none of these deals will get your friends out to drink with you then I’d go to this list of excuses:

  1. Google what holiday is that day and decide to celebrate it. You will be shocked at how many holidays you can celebrate.
  2. Call them out for being lame. Most people won’t back down from a challenge.
  3. Offer to buy them a drink, costly but effective.
  4. Tell them their crush is meeting you there, you’ll probably have a mad friend…but you won’t be drinking alone.
  5. Mention we go to the best school in America and that we are FREE therefore they have to drink.

If none of that works I don’t know what to tell you, but I’ll get a beer with you.

Special thanks to Boone Deals, Colleen Mcdivett, and my love for cheap beer for help in writing this article.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
