I am back with yet another Universal Music Group Collaboration! This week is a little bit different. I will be writing about an artist I have no true background information on. Yes, just like you exploring the internet, I am exploring an artist relatively unknown. However, thanks to the artist's blown up music video with 17 million views and counting, it kind of helps. You can check out the music video below:
Who The Hell is Amine?
Ignoring the fact I will be spelling his name wrong throughout this entire article (Thanks Mac OS X), I am still trying to figure out who this guy actually is. The only info I got on this guy is he comes from the great city of Portland, Oregon. When referring to modern-day west coast style of rap, Portland doesn't really come to mind, but hell, this guy might change all of that. His influences are of many and are quite diverse. Kanye West, Andre 3000, and even Quentin Tarantino, the list is questionable, yet incredibly interesting. His hit single "Caroline" has blown up on Youtube and has given Amine a foot in the door in the music industry and hopefully it can continue his career.
My Review Of The Song And Music Video:
There is one thing that is quite apparent in this video, a lot of west coast hip hop influence. The beat of the song takes me back to the 1990's while the fast tempo and modern lyrics keep me interested throughout the entire song. This combination makes the song incredibly addictive to listen to, even for the first time. It's also important to note that Amine has done a great job in applying great visuals in a music video to his song. Music videos nowadays have changed from back in the day and it's nice to see one that actually makes sense for the song itself. The song has the potential of going Platinum if more people listen to it (yes, it's that good). This is one of those songs you have to turn up really high in volume in your car with your buddies on the way to the club. Sounds very specific, yes, but you'll see what I mean once you start listening to this song.
Conclusion:
Amine has come up with a very addictive single for the world to listen to, and that's great. I am just hoping he just doesn't turn into another one hit wonder type of rapper because that would be a waste of talent from someone who has the potential to be great. My background info on this dude is not great, but one thing is for certain. I really hope this guy has more songs releasing in the near future because there could be a chance we might be a huge rap influence for the next generation to follow up with.
