American Horror Story: College Dating

College can be the best 4-7 years of your life, or it can be 4-7 years of your life that you want to forget about because you wasted them with a boyfriend or girlfriend.

Sure, after college the plan is to start a family, settle down, buy a house, collect a house full of cats, and coach your son's little league baseball team. But now? Right now is when you want to start this Oregon Trail full of disappointment and commitment? I doubt it, you are somewhere between 18 and 22 and you want to soak up these years with as many "grandfather stories" as you can fit on your twin XL mattress. .

I agree, there's always that one girl or guy. The one that you may think is everything you've ever wanted in a person. The one person you feel really is like those people in the Disney movies. They are hilarious and have above average looks. But is it worth it? Let's shoot off a couple tradeoffs for what you are missing while you are "enjoying" those Netflix movie nights five nights a week.

1. After this whole relationship thing doesn't work out, you're going to have to find those friends you've been ditching every night so you could watch Tangled in her dorm room and listen to her talk about how much she hates her roommates.

2. Sharing all those Mike Hard Lemonades with her are really starting to take a toll on your alcohol tolerance. You're basically a 17 year old girl heading off to her Junior Prom.

3. Think about how much money you could be saving at free shot night out at the bars. All those Redbox rentals and 2 for $20 deals at Chili's can really add up.

4. We all know you didn't want to be Justin Timberlake for Halloween this year, you just did it so she could be Britney Spears.

This article is not meant to tell you how you should spend these years, it is to tell you how you shouldn't be spending them. You'll have the rest of your life to find your plus one. Why not hold onto a couple more summers free and easy? Dating leads to marriage, which leads to children. This eventually leads to sharing your pop tarts with your children each morning. Everyone knows you can't just eat one pop tart. Good luck out there and just remember, commitment is a curse word in my eyes.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
