1. Pope Francis in the Americas. Pope Francis celebrates mass in the center of Cuba's political heart, Revolution Plaza, in his historic visit to the Americas. Pope Francis will travel to the United States this week, too.

2. British man watches "Breaking Bad," buys ricin over Internet, and is sentenced eight years in jail. Mohamed Ali, who was convicted in July, said he bought it out of "curiosity" after watching "Breaking Bad."

3. Carly Fiorina races to a close second place behind the Donald. Last week's CNN GOP debate gave the former Hewlett-Packard CEO the chance to rise in the polls to second place behind Donald Trump. There has been some conjecture recently from some opinion writers about a Carly Fiorina-Marco Rubio ticket.

4. Vanessa Williams, 1980s Miss America who resigned after a nude photo scandal, receives apology from CEO. In 1984, Williams became the first black woman to become Miss America.

5. On Sept. 27, 2015, residents of Catalonia will vote on independence from Spain.

Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
