America Really Needs A Reboot

The country is crumbling but we can fix that.

America Really Needs A Reboot

Everyone can agree that America is a wreck. We have Americans wandering the street at midnight looking for a place to sleep. We have adults who can’t even find jobs, yet we see people in line buying thousands of dollars of groceries with their EBT; can you say welfare fraud. We see politicians arguing back and forth about menial issues. For eight years I was promised hope and change and all I have seen is favoritism.

America was founded on greatness. Harry Truman once said “America was not built on fear. America was built on courage, on imagination and an unbeatable determination to do the job at hand. America was founded on life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Where is the America that created the lightbulb, sent a man to the moon, gave America hope and the dream that anything is possible? What happened to the Thomas Edison’s and the Walt Disney’s? America went from the greatest generation to the fast-food generation (we want it fast or not at all).

It’s time that the young people get their head out of the sand and acknowledge what is really going on. America is crumbling. Rome was not built in a day but it burned in one day. The fast-food generation act like they know everything but they need to acknowledge that they are missing something. When someone promises you free college, nothing is free in life. WAKE UP people.

Government has failed us and its time that we appoint people that we will vote for no matter what, don’t second guess, don’t pick and choose, accept them for who they are based what you think America needs. Don’t let old people bribe you in exchange for your vote. The fast-food generation needs to acknowledge what is wrong and fix it. Don’t accept the BS that is being told to you by your professors, friends, parents and neighbors. The fast-food generation needs to get off their butt and get back to doing the real work that built America for them to enjoy.

What will it take for the fast-food generation to stand up and accept what they have done is wrong for America? The fast-food generation must actually do hard work and get a job that pays more than minimum wage. And yes, minimum wage needs to stay at minimum wage not $15 dollars an hour. The fast-food generation needs to welcome change to America and not reject it because it offends them. When you bring change, that might offend other people.

The fast-food generation has lowered their standards on heroes. Some call Jameis Winston a hero others call Maria Sharapova a hero. When will they realize the greatest generation of heroes are quickly dying off and nobody else will be greater than them? Time is ticking away before America is gone for good. Last call has been announced, how will you bring America back to the good ole’ days?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
