I find it quite ironic how Trump centered his whole campaign around "Making America Great Again," but that is quite literally the last thing he is going to accomplish as President. He isn't going to make America great again. If anything, he is going to make it worse than it already is. I am going to remain hopeful that he won't completely screw up, but my hopes aren't high either.
When he first announced that he was running for President, I thought to myself, "There is no way he can win; this is just a joke." But, months later and here we are. The only thing I can say to myself now is, "Oh crap. How did this happen?" I always thought there was no way he could win because I just thought no person could actually support his views and all of the arbitrary things he plans to accomplish as president.
His views on certain things and his actions are what is going to run this country into the ground. I mean, what kind of person decides it's a great idea to build a wall that is going to cost billions of dollars? It baffles me when I think about where his priorities are. The money he would decide to spend on an ineffectual wall could be put to better use elsewhere. There are actual problems in America that the money could be spent on, solving real problems in the long-run. Along with the wall, he plans to deport illegal immigrants, and deny entry to people from several countries in the middle-east.
Another major problem with this man is his opposition to same-sex marriages. He has stated in several interviews throughout the years that he is against same-sex marriages, and even recently mentioned overturning the supreme court's ruling for same-sex marriages. How can the President of a supposed free country want to take away a basic right from millions of people? Excuse me, what year is this? There is no reason that this situation is still causing such a problem amongst people.
Trump's stance on abortion is another big problem of his. He wants to take funding away from abortions and Planned Parenthood. Why? It blows my mind that he wants to take this right away from women to say what happens to their bodies. This isn't going to stop abortions; it's just going to make unsafe abortions popular. Everyone has the right to what they can do with their bodies, and if that means getting an abortion, so be it.
I'm not sure how Trump managed to win the election, but he has. He is a businessman with no political experience. This should be an interesting (hopefully only) four years. Unfortunately, we are left to suffer the consequences of his presidency.
