America, Fight With Me In The War Against Hate

The world didn't end, but another battle has began

America, Fight With Me In The War Against Hate

I am asking you to fight not with your fists, not with violence, not with hate; but to fight with your voices by speaking up for those who’s are never heard, with your actions by educating the uninformed, and through kindness. I have to believe that the world did not end on election night, instead just another battle has begun in this war against women, minorities, and the LGBTQ community.

I still have faith in humanity, and I am thankful to know that I do not stand alone in these thoughts. Half of our nation voted for love, equality, and fairness; while half voted for oppression, hate, and fear. I will stand hand and hand with the people who votes yes to love, who voted yes to equality, and who voted yes to fairness. I will continue to speak up for those who need to not be forgotten. I will continue to fight for what is right, what is human, and what is decent.

I will continue to speak my thoughts and not care who I offend in the process, just know that your republican and conservative views offend me just as much as my liberal feminist hippie thoughts offend you. I simply do not care. I am tired that I live in a country that continuously celebrates white rich men; while the rest of us sit back and suffer the consequences that they decide for us.

I am simply tired of fighting for women. Update: women have been here just as long as men, so why are we STILL fighting for equality, fighting for the rights to our own bodies, and fighting for Planned Parenthood to stay open? If you are a man, congratulations a women gave birth to you. If you are a man you know at least one woman, if you are a man fight for your sister, your mother, your cousin, your daughter, your granddaughter; because our voices aren’t being heard, and we cannot fight this battle without your help. I want my daughter to be born in a country that celebrates her life just as much as they would if she was a man. I want her to be alive during a time where women are encouraged to be intelligent, brave, and extraordinary. I want her to be more than just pretty, and I want my country to rejoice in that. Women I will not stop fighting for you. You matter.

I am tired of fighting for minorities when the civil rights movement happened fifty years ago. I am disgusted that I still live in a time where people focus more on a people’s skin color than their thoughts, intelligence, and souls. I am sick to my stomach that I live in a country that elected an African American president, not once but twice, and today I live in a country that elected a man that celebrates racism and is endorsed by the KKK. What happened? I want to be in world where the first thing you notice about a person is their eyes, their smile, or the way that they carry themselves. Not in a world that judges based on skin tone. So minorities, even though I am a different shade than you, I will stand by you and fight this battle alongside you, and I will do so with so much pride. Minorities I will not stop fighting for you. You matter.

I am exhausted that we have to fight for love. Same sex marriage is finally legal in the United States of America after a long and harsh battle. Love won. But this election might demolish all of that. Who loves who, who marries who, should be the least of this countries worries; we have more important shit to deal with. We focus more on who is dating who more than who is killing who. Who fucking cares. I want to live in world where people can pass a same sex couple holding hands on the street and smile. I want to live in a country where we celebrate everyone no matter who they love or what sex they recognize with. Love is the greatest weapon in the world and I have to believe that love will trump hate. The LGBTQ community I will not stop fighting for you. You matter.

I am asking you to stand beside me on the battle grounds. To stand hand in hand with these women, with these minorities, and with the LGBTQ community to fight this war against hate. I refuse to lose hope in humanity, I refuse to believe this is the end of the road for us, and I refuse to sit back and watch. So fight with me, fight with us, but please fight with love. I won’t give up on women because we are strong and have fought so many times before. We are powerful and badass and we will change the world. I will not give up on the LGBTQ community because I think you are beautiful, and loving human beings and you deserve to be recognized as such. I will hold your hand and continue to fight hate with so much love in my heart. I won’t give up on the minorities until we no longer see skin color. I am asking you to stand next to me and fight for the oppressed because we deserved to be heard. Use your privilege, help the helpless, and give to those who are forgotten.

Because this isn't the end of the world, it just wasn't the end of the fight.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
