We all know what an introvert is. We also all know what an extrovert is. Have you ever felt like you're somewhere in between? That's where being an ambivert comes in. Merriam-Webster defines ambivert as "a person having characteristics of both extrovert and introvert."

There are some struggles that we ambiverts face that those who are on one side of the spectrum or the other just don't understand.

1. You love people, but sometimes you just want to stay in my room and watch "Scandal" on Netflix.

I understand that you want to go out to that party, but I just can't handle being surrounded by people right now, so, I'll have to pass.

2. People sometimes mistake you for being an extrovert (or introvert).

This is especially true when they first meet you. It just depends on which stage you're in that day.

3. There's no such thing as a "typical" day to you.

Every day is different because you never know if you'll wake up and want to be around people or just want to go back to sleep and not wake up for 5 years.

4. You can understand the way people feel in lots of situations, but it's hard for them to understand you sometimes.

You have your days where you want to go out into the world and conquer all your fears and go for all your dreams, and the introverts don't get that. On the other hand, you have days where you have that one friend, human or furry, that you don't want to leave your side because you're feeling a little closed up, and the extroverts don't understand that part.

5. You have no problem with plans being canceled, but then again you have no problem with keeping plans either.

Being forced to get out of the house sometimes is a good thing.

6. Your dog is probably the only one who really gets you.

He's fine with cuddling up with you on the couch, but he also loves when you're running around with him in the yard. He just likes the attention.

7. Your introvert and extrovert tendencies are usually pretty mild.

You're not usually one to go up and start a conversation with someone you've never met. You'd rather let them start. You also aren't completely shut off from the world like a hermit or something.

8. You're a great listener, but sometime you find it hard to speak your mind.

You can listen to someone all day, but when you want to say something you get tongue tied and just can't find the right words to say. It takes a lot or preparation and mentally rehearsing when you're going to say to get your point across.

So, if you're like me and you are the life of the party one day and a fly on the wall the next. It's probably because you're an ambivert. It's all about balance and trying to figure out how to let your introvert self and your extrovert self work together.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
