Meeting you was a blessing in disguise. Although high school was literally THE WORST four years of my entire existence, it led me to you. You taught me Spanish, a passion of mine that I cannot quench. I never would have known how much I loved it if it weren't for you. Thank You from the bottom of my heart for changing my life for the better.
You spoke with passion, purpose, and strength. I could tell that you were more than just a teacher. You were and educator. When you taught Spanish, I knew that you found a part of yourself within the language, just like I do. There is something about the way in which the words flow, the syllables trill, and acknowledgement of the world around us ( for example, in English we say " I'm hungry" but in Spanish we say " I have hunger". Spanish isn't so conceited.) that is warming. You knew what you wanted to do with your life as if it were your destiny. You know two languages, a skill that can get you a great paying job almost anywhere, but you teach in one of the worst high schools in the United States, demonstrating to me that happiness is worth so much more than a paycheck.
You taught lessons that couldn't be learned from a textbook. From my mental breakdowns in homeroom and first period to being elected president of the Spanish Club my senior year, you taught me how to have faith in myself. You instilled in me that if I could dream of something, I could do it, and because of that I am pushing myself harder than I ever have while superseding my expectations. It is one of many life lesson that I am humbled to have learned from you.
You awakened my inner travel bug. You've been all around South America, the Caribbean, and Spain. Your stories are fascinating and leave me craving to experience new ideologies and cultures of foreign countries. You showed me how wanderlust I truly am and I cannot wait to have a tattooed passport to match yours.
Simply put, your spirit is pure. You are always finding the best in every situation and always have positive vibes. You are wise in every sense of the word and give me some of the best life guidance I could ever ask for. You are a strong and independent person with a heart of gold. You are selfless and would give the shirt off of your back to anyone who needed it. You have found purpose and passion and thanks to you, so have I.
Most of all, you invested so much faith in me. You knew how much I hated school and how badly I wanted to drop out, but because of you I am in college and chasing my dreams. I am learning more about the language that I love, expanding my horizons, experiencing life in new ways, and I am utilizing my surroundings to make myself happy. You pushed me hard and I will be forever grateful for it. You made me a better student, but more importantly, you made me a better human. Por ese, no puedo explicar lo feliz que estoy.
