I’m a fan of the popular T.V. show My Little Pony. The only problem is that I’m 25 years old. It is a children's T.V. show. My friends and family know I am a fan and often buy me My Little Pony fan gifts. I have a t-shirt, cup, mug, magic the gathering game mat, body pillow, and two of the My Little Pony stuffed animals. I also have a key-chain. The list could go on. One time my roommate brought me home a sticker and she had one of the kids she was nannying, in the car. The girl saw the sticker and she asked, “Why do you have a My Little Pony sticker in your car?” My roommate replied, “It’s for my friend,” the little girl’s response was, “you have weird friends.” Here I was at 25 years old judged by a kid for liking My Little Pony. I find it quite funny now that I look back on it. It may be weird in someone’s eyes, but I am proud of it. I’m just a 25-year-old woman who enjoys the show. I love how colorful it is. I like the characters. But most of all, I like that the show centers around friendship and how to be a good friend. I feel that’s something that even adults can relate to and learn from as well as kids. We are all different personalities building friendships inside our own friendship circles.
I find that the show also helps me strike easy conversation with anyone of any age. Just like any show, it is something to have in common with someone else. My roommate who gave me the sticker, has a little cousin who was wearing a My Little Pony hat. One of the first times I met her, I found out that she also likes the show. We talked about it and now talk whenever we see each other. I bonded with a child just because we liked the same show and can both name all of the ponies. I find that pretty neat. It’s something that parents could do to bond with their children if they really wanted. I also know other adults around my age who like the show. One thing that fans of the show do is call each other “bronies.” My other roommate also likes the show and we often call each other that. The T.V. show has definitely given me something and that is why I'm a proud fan of it, besides liking everything about the show itself. In my eyes, friendship is magic weather you are a kid or an adult.
