The 2016 election has been one for the books for many reasons. One of the biggest reasons why this election will be remembered is because Hillary Clinton has become the first female to the presumptive nominee for her party. This is a huge moment for women all over the world and we should be celebrating how far we have come.

However, this monumental moment has been overpowered by people saying, "Hillary is only winning because she has the vagina vote." The "vagina vote" is another way of saying Hillary is winning because women are voting for Hillary because she is a woman. This is the newest way to call women unintelligent and I am not having it.

I am a woman and I am not voting with my vagina. Just because Hillary Clinton and I share the same reproductive parts does not mean she has my vote. If I am going to vote for Hillary, my vagina will not be the one voting. I will be thinking and using my brain to vote for someone who I believe will be best for our country.

Saying, "You're voting for Hillary Clinton because she's a woman," is like saying, "I'm voting for Donald Trump because he is a man." Gender should never determine your decision. You should vote for who you think will be best fit to run our country. Gender should not be the reason why you vote for someone for president.

My vagina does not make decisions for me. It does not have it's own brain and overpower my thinking. With every other election, women did not say "you're voting for Obama because of your penis." With all of the past elections, we never questioned if a person was elected into office because men were voting with their penises. Why question if a woman is voting for Hillary because they share the same reproductive organs?

I am a woman and I am not voting with my vagina. My vagina does not whisper in my ear "vote Hillary Clinton" late at night. My vagina does not look on the Internet and see an article supporting Hillary Clinton and say "read it!" My vagina did not decide to follow Hillary on Facebook and Twitter. I made this decision with my brain and no one should question it because of my reproductive parts.

The reason I am not voting for Donald Trump is not because he has a penis and I do not. Just because he is a man, it doesn't mean I won't vote for him. Women have had the right to vote and have voted for men before. Some presidents would not have won their election if it was not for women. Just because there is a woman in the election this time around does not mean she automatically gets every single woman's vote.

I am a woman and I am not voting with my vagina. Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have to earn my vote. My vagina will not be the deciding factor on who I vote for. Stop saying that Hillary has the vagina vote because she does not. Women have brains and will be using them when it comes time to vote.
