If you're like me, you dread going to the gym. The equipment overwhelms you, the masses of people make you uncomfortable, and the fact that you're touching the same equipment as the sweaty people who probably haven't showered yet makes you cringe. But, working out doesn't have to mean going to the gym and spending your hour on the treadmill or the elliptical. Here are 5 alternative workouts to the gym.
1. Hot Yoga
While many people think yoga is easy stretching, it can be quite challenging. It can be even more challenging when you're doing it in 90+ degrees. By the time you leave your session, you will be exhausted and drenched in sweat. But you will also burn triple the amount of calories than you normally would.
2. Boxing Class
Taking a boxing class is healthy both physically and emotionally. Incorporating boxing techniques in your workout not only changes up your boring routine but also is a great way to release any tension that you are holding up.
3. Hiking
Hiking can be an interactive and social workout. Take a few friends one weekend and explore what mother nature has to offer. Not only will you be sore by the end of the weekend, but you will also be in awe from the beauty you've seen.
4. Cycling Class
While many of you might already use the cycling machine at your gym, taking an actual cycling class is a different experience. During the class, you are greeted with an unexplainable feeling of adrenaline and determination. You have someone challenging you and the classes always come with great playlists.
5. Aerial Fitness
Aerial fitness incorporates pilates techniques and core strengthening by using a flexible hammock. This is probably the most unique workout of the list but also could arguably be the most challenging....and the most fun!
