Why You Should Take A Look At Alternative Medicine

In today’s society, doctors are quick to prescribe antibiotics, antidepressants, and other medications to their patients in the blink of an eye. They prescribe these medications so often that people don’t even realize how harmful these drugs can be to their bodies and minds after repeated use. A few years ago, I read up on the dangers of antibiotics and other harmful drugs and stumbled across alternative medicine as a cure instead. Now I know that some of you are probably thinking, “This girl is nuts. You have to take the medication that the doctor prescribes you. That’s the only way to heal.”

But I’m here to tell you that in certain cases the medication you receive will only help you so much. Prescription drugs are not the only solution to these illnesses that a large percentage of Americans are dealing with. Fixing the problem holistically will cure you from the inside out.

I suffer from Anxiety and Depression, as do many others. There is an alarming number of people that I know that suffer from either or both of these mental illnesses. Most of my friends are on medications for these mental illnesses, too. Now some people’s mental disorders are too serious to stop their medications and I understand that everybody is different. However, from talking to my friends about this issue they tell me that overall doctors are very quick to hand you a prescription for Zoloft and send you on your way. This is the doctor’s job and there’s nothing wrong about that. They diagnose you, explain what’s wrong and give you medication accordingly.

Alternative medicine offers a different approach and this is the approach I took that worked for me. These healing methods focus on the human body as a whole. Body, mind and spirit are all involved in this process that starts healing you from the inside out. Medications focus on covering up the problem but only on the surface. Working on a holistic level ensures that the problem is fixed internally for good.

If I could recommend you looking into certain alternative healing methods, I would research Reiki, Meditation/Yoga, Crystal Healing and Reflexology. I have had experience with other methods but these have given me the best outcomes. My favorite approach was Reflexology. As soon as I started Reflexology, I started to feel a whole lot better inside and out. Reflexology is a form of massage that focuses on certain pressure points that match up and connect with certain organs in the body. By releasing energy blockages in the correct areas, it ensures everything is working properly and energy is flowing again.

Alternative medicine is not for everyone. Every time I pull out my crystals, my dad throws me some very weird glances from across the room. But this method of alternative medicine works better for me. I don’t conceal my illnesses with prescription drugs. I heal myself from the inside out- the natural way. If you still think I’m crazy, live your life the way you want. If you don’t, look more into alternative medicine and holistic approaches to healing and I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
