Alpha Xi Delta Means...

As a sophomore in college I have learned a few things. I have learned that Winco has really cheap food and I like that. I have learned that I don't own enough college swag. I have learned that sometimes procrastinating your homework creates some really great essays. But most importantly, I have learned that I would be nowhere without Alpha Xi Delta. Alpha Xi has given me the greatest opportunities I could ever ask for. Because of my sisters, I have passed classes, I have one of the most wonderful Big's ever, and I have memories made of gold.

To me, Alpha Xi Delta is my home away from home. It's my safe place. It's the sorority that has some of the most kind, loving, and caring people I have ever met. So, I decided to ask other sisters around the country what Alpha Xi Delta means to them. Here is what I received.

"Alpha Xi Delta means lasting friendships that helps me grow as a woman and be gracious through all of my endeavors."--Bianca

"A support system that lasts way beyond graduation." --Michelle

"Alpha Xi Delta means you have an entire group of girls who will love you for who you are and never leave your side." --Mya

"At the conclusion of my mother's funeral, an Alpha Xi sister handed a pink Killarney rose to me...
What does Alpha Xi Delta mean to me? Priceless!" --Angie

"Alpha Xi Delta is everlasting friends and family that will be there through the best and worst times. They are the women I trust with my life." --Kristin

"Alpha Xi Delta means no matter where life takes me, I know I'll never be alone." --Sydney

"Alpha xi delta means an amazing fam who is always there to support you and love you forever it means realizing your potential with amazing women around u! Lots of love from the iota sigma chapter at VCU in Richmond!" --Monica

"Alpha Xi Delta means knowing that there is always someone there to catch you when you fall, a shoulder to cry on and someone to always have your back." --Cassidy

"Alpha Xi Delta means unconditional support in every single way through everything life throws at you!" --Tara

"Lifelong sisterhood despite our differences." --Eileen

I would just like to end this article by thanking the sisters who contributed. Each and every one of them prove that Alpha Xi Delta is a place of support, acceptance, and unconditional love. I can't imagine what my life would be like without Alpha Xi, and I never would want to This is the place for me.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
