Almost Time To Go Back To School

I am so ready for summer to be over....

Almost Time To Go Back To School

We are now halfway through August and it is almost time to go back to school. For me, I have a little over a week left before I return before everyone else at my school for sports tryouts. I am both nervous and excited to go back for my second year of college, and cannot wait to see how this year will differ from last year.

One thing I am extremely thrilled about is being able to see the friends I made last year every single day. I have seen a few over the summer, but it is just a completely different environment at school. At school there aren't any towns to cross, or traffic to deal with, because we are all (for the most part) in the same five mile radius. Some of us will be living in the same building, some of us will be living down the hall from each other, and some of us will be roommates.

Returning to my work study at school is also something I am really looking forward to. I work as an office assistant in Bridgewater State University's Music Department. It doesn't sound that impressive as a job since I'm only an assistant, but the staff and faculty of the Music Department are probably some of the most intriguing and wonderful people I have ever worked with. I am so happy that they hired me, and to have included me in their family. As of next year I will be one of two returning student employees, so there will be some new faces around the offices. Anyone who has work study, or not, and needs a job, definitely apply to work in the Music Department, it is well worth it!

As the days before I move back into school grow shorter, I fell like there has been so many things I haven't done this summer. I barely swam this summer, pool, ocean or the bay. Which is a pretty sad thing considering I practically live on the beach (the end of my road is the beach). Now, don't get me wrong, I have definitely been on the beach a lot this summer. i would go straight from work and go take a nap in the sand under the sun. But I seemed to always miss high tide, and being the lazy self I am I would never walk out over the flats to go swimming.

I never went to Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket, and I don't really count my trip to Provincetown as going there because I was only there for about two hours. I didn't go hiking as much this summer as I usually do. I didn't go to as many bonfires, I didn't go on as many adventures as I'd like. However, I did spend a lot more time with friends I don't normally spend time with. I reconnected with some people, and I worked so much more than I have in a while. I have had a great summer so far, but it really is time to go back to school.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
