I'd be lying if I said all I can think about for the next three weeks is my school work and responsibilities. In reality, we're all dreaming into the future, way past our current problems and responsibilities that all happen to revolve around school. But when it comes down to it, these next three weeks are all that separate us from the freedom and fun that is summer vacation. We can do it.
We get up in the morning to the blaring of alarms trying to wake us up early enough to get ourselves together in time for class. If you're like me, you have to wake up even earlier to finish up last-minute bits and pieces of homework that you procrastinated on. But nonetheless, every morning you're counting down the days until you no longer have to set these dreaded alarms. Only three more weeks; we can do it.
We sit in front of our computer screens while looking at calendars organizing all the exams, projects and papers due in the next three weeks, wondering how the fudge we'll be able to get it all done. Coffee. Caffeine. That's how we do it. The amount of sleep we get in these three weeks won't matter because in 21 days we'll be free. You never really know the true meaning of stress until you have five exams, two projects and three papers due all in the same week. Only three more weeks; we can do it.
We are dreaming of the water. Water is our summer vacation freedom in a nutshell. Whether your refreshing water is a lake, a river, a swimming pool, or the ocean, Atlantic or Pacific, the water is freedom and tranquility. Soon enough, we'll be tying our boats up with friends or laying in the sand, soaking up the sun. We'll be playing corn hole and kanjam in no time, creating unforgettable memories. Only three more weeks; we can do it.
We imagine ourselves at carnivals, state fairs and music festivals. We imagine ourselves indulging in kettle corn, funnel cakes, soft-serve ice cream and fried Oreos. We all wish we were able to attend Coachella but in reality it's coach-hella far and coach-hella expensive and we're, well, college students. Instead of Coachella, you were most likely studying or writing a paper, but what it comes down to is these next three weeks; we can do it.
These next three weeks will seem like the longest weeks of our lives. But it's the home stretch; we're running for our lives from third base to home. Once we are home, we are free. Free from homework, exams, projects and academic lectures; we can do it.
Let's just hope you didn't sign up for summer classes.
