We live in a world where children are scared to go places in fear there will be harm or danger. Parents fear their children's safety more than ever at public events. We live in a society where you can look at someone wrong and get a bullet through your skull. Even though this had happened for many years, it's more prominent now. I lost an uncle to a bullet because he said something someone didn't like, so it's not unknown. But it's becoming so much more prominent now. Think about it. Apple Inc. now wants to remove the gun emoji from their emoji keyboard on the phones to reduce gun violence.... are we blaming violence on a weapon or an individual. If their is a shooting, the gun did not pull that trigger by itself, there was an individual pulling it. We are now allowing guns on campus for safety, but also for harm? We can do a thousand background checks on an individual, but that doesn't mean they are ideal for that item of destruction....We live in a place where it's socially acceptable for a parent to be intoxicated or under the influence of an illegal drug / substance while caring for others: a place where the only way our society gets motivation to exercise through a video game.... isn't that sad ? The physical activity an individual should get every day is now accomplished with our faces in an electronic device watching imaginary creatures appear, disappear, and battle. We live in a world where a shooting doesn't phase us- yes, a life is either changed or lost, but it's becoming a regular on the news.
Now, it's all #BlackLivesMatters.... but what about all lives ? Does the bullet decide who it kills ? Absolutely not. Do we decide it ? well of course, but we will sit here and say, "the gun killed them"... but who's behind that gun. Was it to hurt them? an unlucky soul? Or was it just a family in the wrong place at the wrong time? Think about the shootings lately, all these hashtags of a certain groups life mattering more than others. well what about #AllLivesMatter. Why does race matter? Why does a background matter? Oh wait, because our society is full of judgmental individuals. A child isn't born with the mindset of #BlackLivesMatter or #WhiteLivesMatter - they will be able to look anyone in the eye saying #AllLivesMatter. I can sit here and agree with murdering terrorists, and if they are causing that mass damage, then so be it. But killing individuals based on race, culture, lifestyle, or religion, is irrational. Does terrorism stand on the shoulders of s stereotype? Absolutey. But stereotypes don't mean that every single person with those qualities is considered that item. Think about a stereotype, and see if every person you know fits it. I doubt it. But regardless, at the end of the day, we all close our eyes and fall asleep, no matter who we are. We all breathe oxygen and we all bleed red.... at the end of the day , to me, #AllLivesMatter.
