If you're like me, you always have a pack (or four) of Kleenex, some allergy pills and some eye drops at the ready for the Hell that the various molds and pollens in the air will cause you. I don't remember a time in my life where my nose hasn't been running like a faucet and I've been able to live a life free of using hand sanitizer every 30 seconds. Here's what I go through on a daily basis as told by the cast of "30 Rock."
1. In the morning, you wake up and realize it's going to be a long day of medicine, medicine and more medicine.
You're semi-ready to take on the day with your swollen eyes and runny nose, and you're definitely ready to feel better.
2. When you look in the mirror and see what you look like.
Your eyes are swollen, your nose is red and possibly dry if you've been blowing your nose for days, you look tired and your throat is raspy (I know that's not a visual characteristic). Long story short, you look like a hot mess in the morning.
3. You're 20 minutes into your morning routine and realize you've only put in one eye drop.
In the mornings I have to take my allergy pills, put in my eye drops, use my nasal spray, put cream around my eyes because they're dry, etc. All together, it takes around a half an hour for me to prepare myself for the day.
4. You blow your nose every two minutes.
Throughout the day, you have approximately 40 dirty Kleenex in your pockets because your nose decided to become Niagara Falls for the day. Your friends and family give you gross looks because they think you're trying to expel a demon through your nose.
5. Your allergy medicine starts to kick in.
About two or three hours after you've gone through your whole morning routine, you finally start to feel somewhat better. Nothing hurts for a while, and you can breathe again.
6. Then, the allergy medicine wears off.
The two hours of heaven you encountered are now over, and everyone is afraid to come near you again. You've gone back to looking like you have a case of the suds like SpongeBob once did -- and you feel like it, too.
7. You feel better -- right as you go to sleep.
You've gone through the whole day feeling pretty much terrible, but feel like you could climb Mount Everest right as your head hits the pillow. The allergy medicine, finally works. At least you can sleep and prepare for the morning routine you'll have to go through all again.
Good luck with all of your allergy issues this summer!
